What should I do in the event of a traffic accident?

How to submit a car insurance claim?
You should submit claim by the following link within 14 days from the date of accident. Any delay of car insurance claim notification may prejudice your right of indemnity under the Policy: automotive.allianz.com.hk/claims
What should I submit to Allianz for motor insurance claims?
1. Letter of Consent duly signed by driver

2. Repair estimate of the insured vehicle (applicable to comprehensive insurance)
3. Screening breath test report from the police, if applicable
4. Vehicle Registration Document
5. Driver's driving licence and any other identity document, such as ID Card or Passport
6. If driver has over 2 years driving experience, please provide supporting document (say previous driving licence, other than a probationary driving licence)
7. Photographs taken at the accident spot, (if any)
8. Dashboard camera video recording the circumstance of the accident, (if any)
9. Report chit from the police and Notice of Intended Prosecution, (if any)
10. Police statement (copy or recording) and other related documents from relevant authorities
11. Copy of claim letter(s) / summon(s) / correspondences from third party (one available)

If I do not accept the third party’s offer, what can the Insured do?
Allianz will use our best endeavors to get the maximum benefits for you. If you do not accept the third party’s offer, after notifying Allianz, you can takeover the action and/or seek legal advice from your own appointed legal representative for further action.

Can I choose my own repairer?

How to arrange car repair?
Please obtain the quotation from the repairer and submit it to Allianz. Allianz will arrange an independent motor surveyor to assess the damage and repair costs.

What should I pay?
You are responsible to pay policy excesses (subject to policy condition) and depreciation (if any) to the repairer directly and Allianz will settle the balance.
What is depreciation?
Repairer uses new parts to repair the vehicle will producing the depreciation and the amount will be assessed base on the condition of your vehicle at the time of accident.
What is total loss?
The damaged vehicle will be treated as total loss when the repair costs exceed the market value which is assessed by the appointed surveyor. Allianz have the final discretion to determine if the damaged vehicle is total loss or not.
If I am the party at fault, what should I do?
If you receive any communication from any parties relating to the accident (including Summons and Writ etc), please forward to Allianz unanswered immediately for attention.
If the third party is at fault, what should I do?
If Allianz have settled the repair costs on your behalf, please forward to Allianz the police investigation result and all receipts. Allianz will start recovery action once the third party is convicted of driving offence. Kindly note that the recovery result cannot be guaranteed.
How to arrange windscreen replacement?
Please obtain the quotation from the repairer and submit it to Allianz.
